How do young people feel about it?

We’ve been hearing adults in an uproar about the Obama Health Care Bill. What what is it really and what does it promise for our future? And the big question is,  does our generation really care? There were a lot of young people campaigning on Obama’s behalf during the election, but we need to take time to think about the polices he is planning to put into action. Here is a YouTube video of the Obama health care speech, and below is the proposed plan from the White House website:

Ok so basically in this address, to a joint session of Congress, President Obama explained how health insurance reform will provide more security and stability to those who have health insurance, coverage for those who don’t, and will lower the cost of health care for our families, our businesses, and our government.  Here is a break down from www.whitehouse.gov on how the health care plan will seemingly help:

The Administration believes that comprehensive health reform should:

  • Reduce long-term growth of health care costs for businesses and government
  • Protect families from bankruptcy or debt because of health care costs
  • Guarantee choice of doctors and health plans
  • Invest in prevention and wellness
  • Improve patient safety and quality of care
  • Assure affordable, quality health coverage for all Americans
  • Maintain coverage when you change or lose your job
  • End barriers to coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions

This act hits home for people like me who have chronic diseases that could really use a relief from paying the high costs of health care. But most young people in our community don’t really have to worry about being unhealthy. And only to be fair, we will list some of the cons of  the health care bill.

  • The elite of our country could be exposed to better care
  • Government ran facilities could make care & medicines come slower
  • More money from the tax payer’s pocket
  • Less money flows to privately owned facilities which help stimulate the economy
  • More Dependency on the government
  • Doctor’s and health officials could lose profits

If you are between the ages of 18-25 we want to hear from YOU !  So how exactly do they feel about it? We want to ask you !
